Privacy and cookies.
What this site collects, why, and who else sees it. The short version: anonymous visit statistics through Google Analytics, your email if you write to me, and nothing from the tools.
What is collected
Visit statistics. Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, records how the site is used: the pages viewed, how far down a page you scroll, which links, tabs and tools are used, the site that referred you, your browser, device type and screen size, and an approximate location (city or region) that Google derives from your IP address. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. I see this only as totals and trends, not as named people.
The tools. The calculators and self-checks run entirely in your browser. Your answers, scores and anything you type into them are never sent to me, to Google, or anywhere else. Analytics records only that a tool was started or finished. If you use a tool's “email me this result” button, your own email program opens with a draft, and nothing is sent unless you send it.
Email. There is no contact form. If you email me, I receive your address, your name if your email shows it, and whatever you write.
Hosting. Like any web server, the one that delivers these pages processes your IP address and browser details in order to send them.
This site has no accounts, no sign-in, no forms, no comments and no payments.
How it is used
- Visit statistics show which pages and tools are useful, so I can improve them, and whether people find the site through search.
- Email is used to reply to you and, if we work together, to run the engagement.
I do not sell or rent personal information, do not share it for advertising, and do not use it to build advertising profiles. I do not add you to a mailing list because you emailed me.
Who else processes it
- Google (Analytics and Tag Manager) processes the visit statistics. Google's description of how it uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Microsoft hosts the site on Azure and hosts my email on Exchange Online.
- Cloudflare answers DNS lookups for the domain. It does not see the pages you view.
Each of them handles data under its own terms and privacy policy. I would also disclose information if the law required it.
Cookie statement
The site itself sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. The only cookies come from Google Analytics, which uses them to tell a returning visitor from a new one and to group page views into a visit:
No advertising, social media or tracking-pixel cookies are used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.
How long it is kept
Detailed visit statistics are kept in Google Analytics for no longer than 14 months; totals may be kept longer. Email is kept as long as needed to answer you, and for clients, as long as business, tax and contract records must be kept.
Your choices
Email me to ask what I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and I will answer within 30 days. Where I have to keep something, such as a record of a contract, I will tell you what and why.
This site is for businesses and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it, and the effective date at the top moves.
